Portugal wedding photographer with US couple at a Sintra palace wedding

Sintra, Lisbon, Comporta · For US, UK & Canadian couples

From Boston to Sintra.
Portuguese wedding, captured romantically.

Documentary wedding photography across Portugal — Sintra palaces, Lisbon rooftops, the Comporta beaches. Quiet, romantic, light-soaked. The destination US couples are picking when Italy feels too crowded.

Why here, why me

Three reasons US couples book me for Portugal

01 · Local fluency

I've worked from Sintra to Comporta

Sintra palace weddings have specific permitting and crowd-control logistics. Comporta is unspoiled but has limited venues. Lisbon rooftops have time-slot restrictions. I know the differences and quote accordingly.

02 · Cost honesty

No transatlantic surcharge

Flights from Berlin to Lisbon are €80–€150 year-round. No transatlantic stacking. The travel line on my invoice covers a real flight and a modest stay.

03 · The day itself

Documentary, not posed

No staged moments. I work quietly. The Atlantic mist over Sintra at sunrise, the long Portuguese dinner, the late-night Fado at the Lisbon reception — captured as it happened.

FAQ

Portugal-specific questions

Sintra vs. Lisbon vs. Comporta — which is right for us?

+

Sintra is for couples who want romance and palaces — atmospheric, sometimes misty, fairy-tale aesthetic. Lisbon is for city-wedding lovers who want rooftop ceremonies and walkable receptions. Comporta is the increasingly popular choice for couples who want a "Portuguese Hamptons" beach-and-pine-forest aesthetic with under-the-radar exclusivity. Tell me which one resonates and I will share venue specifics.

When is the best time of year for a Portuguese wedding?

+

May, June, and September are the gold standard — warm but not too hot, the Atlantic mist around Sintra is at its most romantic. July–August are hot in Lisbon (32°C+) but the coast stays cooler. October has the best light but a 30% rain probability. April is unpredictable.

How does the legal marriage paperwork work?

+

Same pattern as Italy/France/Spain — most US couples do their legal ceremony at home and treat the Portuguese wedding as a symbolic ceremony. A binding Portuguese ceremony requires apostilled birth certificates and 30-day residency, which most US couples skip.

Sintra crowds — does that ruin the photos?

+

Sintra is touristy, especially the palaces. We work around this by either (a) booking the venue for an exclusive early-morning ceremony, (b) shooting couple portraits at sunrise before the gates open, or (c) picking quieter Sintra venues like Penha Longa that are off the tourist circuit. I handle the logistics with your venue and planner.
