Lake Como · For US, UK & Canadian couples
From Austin to the Balbianello.
Como wedding, captured calmly.
Documentary Lake Como wedding photography for couples flying in from the US. I know the FAI permit fees, the boat transfer timing, and the right time of day to shoot off the lake.
Why here, why me
Three reasons US couples book me for Lake Como
01 · Permit fluency
FAI permits, boat timing
Balbianello's €600–€1,500 photography permit, the boat transfer between Bellagio and Varenna, the mid-afternoon lake light. I've been through it enough to itemise it on the quote.
02 · Cost honesty
No transatlantic surcharge
Train from Milan Malpensa to Como is 50 minutes. No transatlantic flight, no jet-lag risk, no $4k of hidden travel cost. Travel line is real cost, not padded margin.
03 · The day itself
Documentary, not posed
No staged "look at the camera" shots. I work quietly. The mother of the bride choking up, the speeches, the lake-front first dance — captured as it happened.

FAQ
Lake Como specifics
When is the best time of year for Lake Como?
+
May, June, and September are the gold standard — long warm days, the lake is at peak colour, light into 9pm. July is hot and humid (high 30s°C / 95°F) and the lake gets touristy. October has a 35–40% rain probability but the autumn light is unmatched. April is a gamble — magnificent or grey.
Villa del Balbianello has weird permit fees — do you handle that?
+
Yes — Balbianello (and several other FAI-managed villas) charges €600–€1,500 for a "professional photography permit" on top of the venue fee. I am familiar with this and itemise it transparently on the quote. Most planners handle the actual permit application.
Boat transfers, Bellagio logistics — does this complicate things?
+
Lake Como is a long lake. If your ceremony is in Bellagio and reception in Varenna, plan boat transfer time into the schedule. I have shot enough Como weddings to flag the timing pitfalls — it usually goes in the pre-wedding planning call.
How far in advance do we need to book?
+
Premium Como villas — Balbianello especially — book 14–18 months out for peak season. For September–October bookings I recommend reaching out at least 12 months ahead.
